***We have currently used all of our allocation of Scottish repair scheme vouchers - We will announce it here if/when the scottish government announces more funds***
We are pleased to once again be offering repair and maintenance vouchers through the Scottish Cycle Repair Scheme, run through Cycling UK. This will be available at our Bruntsfield, Canonmills and Aberdeen stores.
The scheme is intended to reach people who feel they need financial support in order to keep riding their bike. If you do not need financial support to repair or maintain your bicycle, we would respectfully ask that you consider leaving the limited number of vouchers for those most in need.
The Scottish Cycle Repair Scheme is for people who have a cycle but it needs some maintenance to get it back in use. It is intended to reach people who feel they need financial support at the moment, as the costs of bike repairs can be a barrier to cycling.
Basic service and essential mechanical repairs are covered by the scheme i.e. repairs that are necessary to make the cycle roadworthy and fit for purpose.
There is a £50 voucher available for each person, to cover both parts and labour costs. The following repairs can be covered by the scheme:
• repairing or replacing tyres, tubes, wheels and related components
• adjusting, repairing or replacing braking system components
• adjusting, repairing or replacing transmission system components
• repairaing or replacing other essential components which prevent safe use of the cycle e.g. deteriorated grips or saddle.
Any additional costs (including parts) are not covered by the scheme and it cannot be transferred to other purchases.
How it works:
We need you to book in to our workshops (telephone numbers can also be found on our store pages). We will need your email address and postcode so that Cycling UK can ask you for feedback on the scheme and make improvements for any future schemes.
Numbers of vouchers are limited per store, and participation in the scheme is subject to availability. If the repair total comes to more than £50, we will check with the customer before going ahead with work and give accurate estimates on the cost of the work.
More information and FAQs on the scheme can be found on the Cycling UK website.
